The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested 26 suspected kidnappers during a series of coordinated security operations across different parts of the state.
According to a statement released by DSP Mansir Hassan, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, the raids — conducted between October 3 and 5, 2025 — led to the recovery of four fabricated firearms, several dangerous weapons, and ₦546,000 suspected to be part of ransom money collected from kidnap victims.
The operations, which involved personnel from the Anchau Police Division, the Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KADVIS), and the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, were based on credible intelligence targeting known criminal hideouts.
“In one of the early morning operations on October 5, officers apprehended six suspects, including one Jibrin Abubakar, also known as Oga, who had earlier kidnapped a 60-year-old man, Idris Adamu, on September 22,” Hassan disclosed.
The victim was reportedly held captive for several days before being released after paying ₦5 million in ransom. During the arrest, police recovered two locally made pump-action rifles, five empty cartridges, amulets, and ₦546,000 in cash.
Two additional suspects were captured following a gun battle with security personnel, while others managed to escape and are being pursued.
In a separate operation on October 3, the police apprehended Habibu Alhaji Ahmadu, alias Munyaye, from Ikara Local Government Area, with two locally made revolver rifles. He reportedly confessed to participating in a previous attack and identified other members of his criminal network — Buhari and Shede, who remain at large.
Another raid conducted on October 4 in Gazara Village, Makarfi LGA, resulted in the arrest of 14 more suspects, including Bello Umar, a known kidnapper previously facing charges.
DSP Hassan confirmed that all suspects are currently in police custody as investigations intensify to track down the remaining gang members and recover additional weapons.
“The Kaduna Police Command remains resolute in its mission to eliminate kidnapping and violent crimes across the state,” Hassan added
