Godwin Emefiele, the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), is scheduled to go on trial today by the Federal Government for charges relating to economic sabotage.

Emefiele will be charged at a High Court in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. His trial was postponed approximately 24 hours ago

According to a notice seen, the former CBN Governor and a man named Ramalan Yaro would be docked for his trial before Justice Hamza Muazu.

Emefiele will be hauled before the court this morning to enter a plea of guilty or not guilty, according to a court registrar who requested to remain anonymous

Similarly, one of the lawyers in his defence team, Maxwell Opara, confirmed that the notice of arraignment had been served on the former CBN Governor for him to appear in court.

The former CBN governor will be produced in court by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Matthew Burkaa, who signed an undertaking to bring him for trial while being granted bail by Justice Olukayode Adegbola Adeniyi, also of the FCT High Court
