Nottingham Forest have opened their search for a new manager after parting ways with Nuno Espirito Santo, with Jose Mourinho among the high-profile names linked to the role.

Nuno was dismissed late Sunday following a poor run of results, capped by a 3-0 home defeat to West Ham United that left the Portuguese under intense pressure.

According to transfer insider Alex Crook, Forest’s shortlist features three leading candidates: former Fenerbahçe boss Jose Mourinho, Fulham manager Marco Silva, and Tottenham Hotspur coach Ange Postecoglou. Crook added on X (formerly Twitter) that Postecoglou has emerged as an early favorite, while Silva is also admired by Forest’s hierarchy.

Mourinho, a two-time Champions League winner who has previously managed Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham, remains in contention. However, insiders suggest owner Evangelos Marinakis and chief executive Ioannis Vrentzos are leaning toward a manager with a more progressive playing style than that typically associated with Mourinho or Nuno.

A decision on Forest’s next head coach is expected soon as the club looks to steady its Premier League campaign and move clear of relegation danger.
