Jose Mourinho Claims Turkish Super Lig Title Was Rigged After Fenerbahce Lose to Solskjaer’s Besiktas

Fenerbahce manager José Mourinho has made explosive claims following his team’s 1-0 loss to Besiktas, suggesting that Galatasaray’s path to the 2025 Turkish Super Lig title was fixed before the season even started.

The crucial defeat—led by Besiktas’ new manager and Mourinho’s former Manchester United counterpart, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer—left Fenerbahce trailing league leaders Galatasaray by eight points with only four matches remaining.

Speaking to the media after the match, Mourinho expressed deep frustration, accusing referees and VAR officials of consistently favoring their rivals throughout the season.

“The outcome of the league was determined before the league even started,” Mourinho said. “VAR decisions, referee decisions—I’m tired of talking about them. But this is the truth. We never stood a real chance.”

Mourinho also criticized the performance of some of his own players, saying individual failures contributed to the team’s struggles.

“When some of your players don’t perform well enough, it affects your collective performance as well. The games we lost at home were decisive,” he added.

The Portuguese tactician’s remarks have sparked widespread debate in Turkish football, as fans and analysts react to the possibility of institutional bias in the league’s title race. Galatasaray, now on the brink of securing the championship, has yet to respond to Mourinho’s claims.

Fenerbahce’s title hopes appear all but over, but Mourinho’s comments ensure the controversy will remain a talking point long after the season ends.
