Jigawa Police Nab Five Drug Suspects, Seize 2,188 Illegal Substances

The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested five suspected drug dealers and confiscated 2,188 assorted illicit substances in a series of coordinated operations across the state.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued to journalists on Saturday. He said the suspects were apprehended in Gumel, Maigatari, Sara, and Gujungu towns as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse and trafficking.

According to the statement, the operations were carried out in line with the command’s sustained campaign against the distribution and use of illegal drugs within the state.

The suspects arrested were identified as Sadik Yahaya, Musa Isiyaku, Dauda Yakubu, Auwalu Lado, and Habibu Abdullahi.

SP Adam disclosed that items recovered from the suspects included two wraps of cannabis sativa and a total of 2,188 assorted illicit drugs.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, praised the operatives for their professionalism and commitment to duty. He reaffirmed the command’s resolve to safeguard lives and property across Jigawa State.

The police chief also called on residents to continue providing timely and reliable information to assist law enforcement in preventing and detecting crime.

CP Muhammad added that all suspects will be charged to court upon the completion of investigations.
