Jay-Z, Diddy’s Accuser Drops Sexual Assault Lawsuit, Case Dismissed Permanently

A woman who accused hip-hop moguls Sean “Diddy” Combs and Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter of sexually assaulting her when she was 13 has officially dropped her civil lawsuit, court records confirmed on Friday.
The lawsuit, filed in December, alleged that Combs and Jay-Z raped the plaintiff at a party following the MTV Video Music Awards in September 2000. However, a legal document submitted to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York states that the case has been “voluntarily dismissed, with prejudice,” meaning it cannot be refiled.
It remains unclear whether a settlement was reached between the parties. The accuser, whose identity has not been disclosed, has not commented publicly on the decision.
Jay-Z, 55, celebrated the dismissal, strongly condemning the accusations. “This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere. The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims,” he said in a statement. “I would not wish this experience on anyone. The trauma that my wife, my children, loved ones and I have endured can never be dismissed.”
The initial lawsuit alleged that Combs and Jay-Z took turns assaulting the plaintiff while another unnamed celebrity watched. The complaint also accused other attendees of failing to intervene.
Meanwhile, Combs, also 55, is facing separate legal troubles, as federal prosecutors have charged him with sex trafficking and racketeering. Authorities claim he sexually abused women and coerced them into drug-fueled sex parties using threats and violence. Combs has denied all charges, and his criminal trial is set to begin on May 5.
Despite the dismissal of the civil case, the allegations have cast a shadow over both music icons, adding to the mounting legal troubles facing Combs in particular.
