ISWAP Responds to Trump’s Comments, Issues Caution to Its Members

The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) has reportedly issued a response to recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, who warned of possible military action in Nigeria following allegations of widespread attacks on Christian communities.

President Trump had earlier placed Nigeria back on the list of “Countries of Particular Concern” and directed U.S. defense officials to be on alert for potential intervention.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama, in a report shared on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, said ISWAP reacted through a message circulated across its known propaganda platforms.

According to Makama, the group criticized Trump, describing him as a “reckless American tyrant” and accused his administration of being influenced by religious advisers. The message also claimed that the United States was attempting to present itself as a global protector of Christians.

Makama further stated that the group advised its members to avoid using smartphones, stay away from crowded locations, and reduce movement, measures often taken to avoid detection.

The statement also urged Muslims in West Africa to remain “united” and to take U.S. threats seriously, while accusing Western nations of hostility toward Muslim communities in the region.
