Iran Retaliates with Missile Strike on U.S. Base in Qatar After American Bombing of Nuclear Sites
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – In a bold act of retaliation, Iran on Monday launched a limited missile strike on the Al Udeid U.S. military base in Qatar. The attack follows U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend.
According to U.S. officials, the Iranian missiles—comprising short- and medium-range ballistic types—were intercepted, and no casualties were reported. Qatar’s government swiftly condemned the attack but confirmed that its defense systems successfully neutralized the incoming missiles.
Iran’s state media described the strike as a “mighty and successful response” to what it called “America’s aggression.” The regime said the number of missiles launched equaled the number of bombs dropped on its nuclear facilities, emphasizing that it targeted a remote base to avoid civilian casualties—an apparent signal of its desire to de-escalate.
U.S. President Donald Trump echoed the sentiment, saying the United States was not seeking further conflict. Meanwhile, tensions in the region remain high, as Israel continues its military campaign against Iran, expanding strikes on sites symbolic to Iran’s ruling theocracy.
The missile strike comes amid growing fears of a broader conflict in the Middle East, following months of escalating hostility between Iran, Israel, and the United States.
