MILAN, Italy — Inter Milan have issued a 72-hour deadline to finalize a deal for Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, as transfer negotiations with Atalanta reach a critical point.

Inter Milan president Giuseppe Marotta confirmed that this week will be decisive in determining whether the club will secure Lookman’s signature or shift focus to alternative targets.

Speaking to reporters, Marotta said:

“This week will be crucial for the Lookman deal. We are in talks for Ademola Lookman, we want him, but we also respect Atalanta. In 2–3 days, we hope to proceed and get the deal done; otherwise, we will move on and focus on other players.”

The Nerazzurri are keen on strengthening their attacking lineup ahead of the new Serie A season and see Lookman as a top priority. The 26-year-old Nigerian international impressed last season at Atalanta, attracting attention from top clubs across Europe, especially after his standout performance in the UEFA Europa League final, where he scored a historic hat-trick.

However, despite Inter’s strong interest, the deal has stalled due to slow progress in negotiations, with Atalanta reportedly holding out for a higher transfer fee.

With the summer transfer window nearing its final stretch, Inter Milan’s management is eager to avoid drawn-out negotiations and hopes to wrap up the deal swiftly — or walk away.

Lookman’s future now hangs in the balance as the clock ticks down on Inter’s self-imposed deadline.
