President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the country’s security forces are recording major victories in the fight against terrorism, banditry, and separatist violence linked to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

In his nationwide broadcast on Wednesday to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day, Tinubu said peace and stability are gradually being restored in key troubled regions, including the North-East, North-West, and the South-East.

“The officers and men of our armed forces and security agencies are making huge sacrifices to keep us safe,” Tinubu declared. “They are winning the war against terrorism, banditry, and violent crimes. Their blood and sweat have stamped out Boko Haram terror in the North-East, curtailed IPOB/ESN violence in the South-East, and reduced banditry and kidnappings in the North-West.”

The president noted that several communities once under siege have now been liberated, with thousands of displaced citizens safely returning to their homes.

Tinubu added that his administration remains committed to strengthening national security while also driving economic reforms to boost growth and improve citizens’ welfare.

“As a nation, we must continue to celebrate the gallantry of our armed forces and honor their courage on behalf of a grateful nation,” he said.
