The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibadan Zonal Command, has secured the conviction of 21 internet fraudsters before the Federal High Court and the Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan.

The convicts — including Waheed Hamid Aromose, Aliu Abayomi Victor, Ugbe Emmanuel Ukali, Ajewole Segun Abraham, and 17 others — were arraigned on separate charges bordering on impersonation, obtaining money under false pretenses, and retention of proceeds of crime.

All defendants pleaded guilty and were sentenced to varying punishments, ranging from fines and community service to prison terms. In addition, the courts ordered the forfeiture of assets traced to the convicts, including cash, a Mercedes Benz GLK, a Toyota Camry, and other valuables acquired through fraudulent activities.

The judgments were delivered by Justices Uche Agomoh, O.S. Adeyemi, Ladiran Akintola, R.B. Olawoyin, O.S. Adeniyi, O.A. Adetujoye, M.O. Ishola, and Bayo Taiwo.

The EFCC said the convictions underscore its commitment to sustaining the fight against cybercrime and internet fraud in Oyo State and across Nigeria.
