Hisbah Nabs Suspected Human Trafficker With 12 Women in Kano

Kano, Nigeria – The Kano State Hisbah Command has arrested a suspected human trafficker in possession of 12 women at a motor park along Zaria Road while attempting to transport them to Lagos.
Deputy Commander General of Hisbah, Sheikh Mujahideen Aminuddeen, confirmed the development in a statement on Thursday. He explained that the arrest was carried out by a team led by the Officer in Charge of motor parks, Muhammad Bashir. The identity of the suspect, said to be from Borno State, was not disclosed.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had planned to traffic the women through Lagos, Benin Republic, and Ghana to Sierra Leone, before arranging visas to Saudi Arabia for domestic employment. Each victim reportedly carried an international passport.
According to Hisbah, the women confessed to paying ₦1.5 million each as part of an agreement, with the balance to be paid after securing jobs abroad.
The victims ranged in age from teenagers as young as 15 to a woman aged 50. Others were identified as being in their early twenties. They came from various states, including three from Katsina, two from Kano, and one each from Borno, Jigawa, and Zamfara.
Aminuddeen said further investigations are ongoing, while the rescued victims are now in protective custody.
