Armed bandits have launched a fresh attack on Unguwar Daudu community in Dukke Ward, Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State, leaving two villagers injured and more than 20 residents abducted.
The incident was reported on Monday by Bakatsine, a conflict and crisis journalist known for monitoring insecurity in Nigeria’s North-West region.
According to the report, the assault occurred on Sunday night, raising fresh concerns over safety in the area.
Bakatsine noted that the attack happened despite several peace agreements previously arranged by local authorities, casting doubt on the effectiveness of such deals in curbing banditry in Katsina State.
In his words, the renewed violence calls into question what is weakening these agreements and highlights the urgent need for stronger measures to protect rural communities.
