Kaduna, Nigeria – A police inspector, Donfa Chirtip, was brutally murdered, and his wife, Victoria Chirtip, abducted by unknown gunmen in Kurmin Kare, a rural community in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The tragic incident occurred on Friday, July 5, while the couple was returning from their farmland. Security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, confirmed the attack in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter).
Inspector Donfa, who was attached to the Special Protection Unit Base 7, Abuja, was ambushed alongside his wife on their motorcycle around 7:00 a.m. The couple was heading back from their farm in the evening when they were reportedly attacked.
According to preliminary investigations, the assailants ambushed them near their farmland. His lifeless body was later discovered with a deep cut to the neck, a sign of the brutal nature of the attack. He was confirmed dead by medical personnel at Doka General Hospital, where his body was taken.
As of press time, Mrs. Victoria Chirtip remains missing, and a manhunt is underway to locate her and apprehend the attackers. Security operatives have launched a coordinated search effort in the surrounding areas.
Attempts to reach Mansir Hassan, the spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, for official confirmation of the incident, were unsuccessful.
The latest attack adds to the growing concern over rising insecurity in parts of Kaduna State, where banditry, abductions, and targeted killings continue to plague rural communities.
