Tension has enveloped residents of Iyana Isashi in Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State after a man, identified as Alex and popularly known as Fleximore, was shot by suspected gunmen and later died from his injuries.
Eyewitnesses said the attack occurred around 8:00 p.m. last Friday when Alex was accosted by two men on a motorcycle while heading out to meet a friend. One of the assailants reportedly pulled out a firearm and shot him at close range before speeding away.
According to a community source, the sound of the gunshot drew passersby to the scene, where they found Alex lying in a pool of blood. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but slipped into a coma. Despite medical efforts, he passed away on Wednesday morning.
“We lost him today. He had been unconscious since Friday night, but sadly he did not survive,” the source said.
Residents believe the shooting may be connected to a nightclub altercation Alex had the night before the attack. A community member, Quadri, explained that the deceased got into a heated argument with a group of men at a local club.
“It later escalated into a fight, but people thought it had been settled. Alex was usually a peaceful, easy-going person, which is why many now suspect the shooting was linked to that clash,” Quadri told reporters.
Preparations are reportedly ongoing for Alex’s burial.
When contacted, Lagos State Police spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, said she was not immediately aware of the incident but promised to confirm details with the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area.
