Genesis Energy, a leading pan‑African clean energy infrastructure company, has announced a strategic partnership with Global Citizen, the renowned international advocacy organization, to drive renewable energy adoption and expand clean power access across Nigeria and Africa.

The collaboration forms part of Global Citizen’s “Scaling Up Renewables in Africa” campaign, which aims to mobilize investment, shape energy policies, and accelerate the continent’s transition to sustainable power.

Partnership to Advance Africa’s Clean Energy Agenda

The landmark agreement was formalized during a high‑level event in London, where stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to energy transition initiatives that support both economic growth and environmental sustainability.

Through the initiative, Genesis Energy and Global Citizen will:

  • Drive awareness campaigns highlighting the importance of renewable energy.
  • Engage government leaders, investors, and civil society to support clean energy policy reforms.
  • Mobilize resources and private capital to boost Africa’s energy infrastructure and close the continent’s energy access gap.

Leaders Emphasize the Impact of Partnership

Akinwole II Omoboriowo, Chairman and CEO of Genesis Energy, said the company remains committed to “Lighting Up Africa One Community at a Time”, emphasizing that reliable clean energy is critical to social progress and economic growth.

“At Genesis Energy, we believe clean, reliable energy is the foundation of development. Our partnership with Global Citizen strengthens our mission to expand access to sustainable energy and support Africa’s green transition,” Omoboriowo stated.

Michael Sheldrick, Co‑Founder and Chief Policy, Impact, and Global Affairs Officer at Global Citizen, highlighted the partnership’s alignment with the fight against poverty.

“Access to affordable and sustainable energy is essential for economic development. Together with Genesis Energy, we aim to mobilize private capital, create jobs, influence policy reforms, and deliver reliable power to millions,” Sheldrick said.

Driving Renewable Investment and Energy Transition

The partnership comes at a critical time for Africa, where over 600 million people lack access to electricity. By leveraging Global Citizen’s global advocacy platform and Genesis Energy’s investment expertise, the campaign seeks to fast‑track renewable projects and strengthen investor confidence in Africa’s energy sector.

With clean energy positioned as a catalyst for poverty reduction and sustainable development, the collaboration is expected to accelerate Nigeria’s transition to low‑carbon power while attracting international financing for renewable infrastructure.
