A Fulani man who converted from Islam to Christianity and later became a pastor has shared how his own people allegedly turned against him, attacking and attempting to kill him for renouncing Islam.
The man, identified as Pastor Adamu Musa, revealed in a viral video that his decision to follow Christ provoked anger among his kinsmen, who have since made several attempts on his life.
Pastor Musa, who has lived in the Miango community of Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State, for over 17 years, said Fulani militants have been launching unprovoked attacks on local communities—killing residents, destroying farmlands, and occupying ancestral lands.
Narrating his ordeal, he said:
“My name is Pastor Adamu Musa, a Fulani man who converted from Islam to Christianity. I was sent to Miango for my pastoral work and have been here for over 17 years. My people have tried to kill me several times because I chose to serve Christ and because I preach against their violent attacks.”
He explained that he had survived multiple ambushes, including one where he was shot at while riding a motorcycle, and another where his house was set ablaze.
Despite these ordeals, Pastor Musa said his faith in God remains unshaken, urging Christians in affected areas to stand firm and defend themselves, as security forces have allegedly failed to protect them.
“I pray that God will open their eyes. We don’t have any problem with them, yet they keep attacking us. We must learn to protect ourselves because there is no help coming from the soldiers,” he said.
Pastor Musa’s story sheds light on the growing persecution and insecurity in parts of Plateau State, where communities have endured years of deadly attacks by suspected Fulani militants.
