Fuel Prices Fall in Abuja as Landing Cost Drops Below Dangote Refinery Rate

Fuel marketers in Abuja have reduced the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) as the landing cost of petrol continues to fall below the ex-depot price of Dangote Refinery.
Across several filling stations in the city — including NIPCO, AA Rano, Eterna, and Empire Energy — motorists are now buying fuel at cheaper rates.
NIPCO and AA Rano reduced their pump price to N940 per litre, down from N950–N955.
Likewise, Eterna and Empire Energy now sell at N945 and N955, each dropping by between N4 and N10 per litre.
Similarly, some NNPC Retail stations in Abuja have adjusted prices downward to N945 per litre, from N955.
However, other outlets like MRS (Dangote Petrol) and Ranoil have maintained their prices at N950 and N955 per litre as of Thursday morning. A station manager at MRS hinted that a price review may happen soon, depending on market conditions.
The adjustment follows new energy market data released on November 3, 2025, showing that the landing cost of petrol has dropped to N827.04 per litre, down from N829.77 at the end of last month.
Current ex-depot prices show Dangote Refinery at N872 per litre, slightly higher than NIPCO, AA Rano, BOVAS, Aiteo and Pinnacle, all selling at N870–N872. This means the landing cost is N44.96 cheaper than Dangote Refinery’s ex-depot price.
The price movement comes shortly after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved a 15% import duty on petrol and diesel, a move aimed at encouraging local refining. Marketers say the policy could lead to higher prices for imported products once enforcement begins.
