Story: Written by Myra March 23,2026
Fidelity Bank Plc has announced plans to convene a high-level virtual webinar aimed at addressing persistent revenue challenges within Nigeria’s public sector, with a focus on enhancing transparency, accountability, and efficiency through digital innovation.
The webinar, scheduled for Tuesday, March 24, 2026, is themed “Digital Fiscal Transparency: Unlocking Sub-national Opportunities for International Partners.” It will gather key stakeholders including government officials, development partners, heads of agencies and parastatals, alongside financial experts to deliberate on practical approaches to strengthening public finance systems.
The initiative comes amid growing concerns over dwindling internally generated revenue and increasing pressure on public institutions to deliver more with limited financial resources. As fiscal accountability gains prominence, experts are expected to highlight how technology-driven solutions can play a pivotal role in improving revenue management.
Speaking ahead of the event, Divisional Head, Public Sector at Fidelity Bank Plc, Richard Madiebo, noted that the session was designed to demonstrate how digital tools can enhance structured billing, streamline collections, automate payments, ensure transparency in contractor disbursements, and enable real-time monitoring of revenue flows.
He emphasized that many government agencies continue to grapple with issues such as revenue leakages, disjointed collection systems, limited visibility into financial performance, and inefficient reconciliation processes—challenges that can be addressed through integrated digital platforms.
Madiebo further stated that the webinar underscores the bank’s commitment to supporting public sector reforms and promoting sustainable sub-national development. He added that the initiative aligns with Fidelity Bank’s broader objective of empowering individuals, strengthening businesses, and fostering economic growth.
