Fidelity Bank Plc has taken a bold step in environmental conservation by organizing a tree planting and beach cleanup initiative at Elegushi Beach, Lekki, Lagos, in partnership with Greenfingers Wildlife Initiative. The activity aligns with the bank’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and climate action under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, Fidelity Helping Hands Programme (FHHP).
The initiative was spearheaded by the bank’s newly inducted employees, known as the Vault Class, who selected tree planting as their community impact project. Fidelity Bank provided matching funds to ensure the project’s success.
Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, Divisional Head, Brand and Communications at Fidelity Bank, emphasized the importance of the initiative:
“Environmental preservation is a key CSR pillar for us. Protecting the earth is a shared responsibility. This initiative is part of our ongoing efforts to promote sustainable practices and protect marine habitats from pollution and degradation.”
Alongside planting trees, the team conducted a beach cleanup to remove waste along the shoreline and surrounding marine areas, reinforcing Fidelity Bank’s commitment to environmental conservation. The bank also continues to support nationwide initiatives and maintains a strong partnership with the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF).
“Tree planting is central to our climate action and resilience strategy. Our collaboration with Greenfingers Wildlife Initiative helps ensure a greener, safer environment for both humans and wildlife,” Nwagboh added.
Mr. Chinedu Mogbo, Founder of Greenfingers Wildlife Initiative, praised Fidelity Bank for its proactive stance on environmental sustainability:
“Our partnership with Fidelity Bank reflects our shared mission to create cleaner, greener spaces. Beyond environmental safety, tree planting enhances the beauty of our surroundings and restores balance to nature.”
The exercise marks another milestone in Fidelity Bank’s CSR portfolio, focused on climate action, biodiversity protection, and sustainable living. It demonstrates the bank’s commitment to environmental stewardship while engaging employees in impactful community service.
