Fidelity Bank, Humanitarian Affairs Ministry Support Vulnerable Households in Abuja
Fidelity Bank Distributes 2,000 Food Packs, Reaffirms Commitment to Poverty Reduction
Fidelity Bank Plc has partnered with the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation to support vulnerable households in Abuja through its flagship Fidelity Food Bank programme.
Launched in April 2023, the initiative has distributed more than 300,000 food packs across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, providing relief to communities affected by hunger and food insecurity.
Speaking at an event marking the 2026 International Day for the Eradication of Poverty in Abuja, Fidelity Bank’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, represented by the Divisional Head of Public Sector, Richard Madiebo, disclosed that the bank had delivered 2,000 food packs to residents of Abuja.
She emphasized that the bank’s commitment to community development extends beyond food distribution to entrepreneurship support and empowerment initiatives aimed at promoting economic independence.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Bernard M. Doro, commended Fidelity Bank for its contribution to improving the welfare of vulnerable Nigerians.
He called for stronger collaboration between government and the private sector, noting that multidimensional poverty continues to exclude millions of Nigerians from meaningful economic participation.
The minister stressed that poverty reduction efforts must go beyond promises and deliver measurable, sustainable improvements in the lives of vulnerable households.
With nearly three decades of commitment to community development, Fidelity Bank continues to demonstrate the importance of private-sector partnerships in promoting inclusive growth, supporting disadvantaged communities, and creating opportunities for economic empowerment.
The partnership reinforces the need for collective action in tackling poverty, hunger, and economic vulnerability across Nigeria.
