Fidelity Bank Plc has reinforced its commitment to environmental sustainability by partnering with Greenfingers Wildlife Initiative to carry out a tree-planting exercise at Elegushi Beach, Lekki, Lagos.
The initiative was executed under the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility platform, the Fidelity Helping Hands Programme (FHHP), and was fully driven by the bank’s newly inducted employees, known as the Vault Class. The staff selected the project as their community impact initiative, with Fidelity Bank providing matching funds to guarantee its successful delivery.
Speaking at the event, Divisional Head, Brand and Communications, Fidelity Bank Plc, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, said the project reflects the bank’s long-term commitment to environmental protection and climate resilience.
“At Fidelity Bank, environmental sustainability remains a core pillar of our CSR strategy. Protecting the planet is a collective duty, which is why our interventions go beyond one-off activities,” Nwagboh stated. “We are intentional about safeguarding our ecosystem, including marine life, against pollution and environmental degradation.”
Beyond the tree-planting exercise, Fidelity Bank employees also carried out a beach cleanup, removing waste from the shoreline and nearby marine areas. Nwagboh added that the bank continues to champion environmental conservation across Nigeria and maintains strong partnerships, including its collaboration with the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF).
“Tree planting is central to our climate action agenda, and we will continue expanding initiatives that promote environmentally responsible practices. Our partnership with Greenfingers Wildlife Initiative is one we value deeply, as there is still much work to be done to protect our natural environment,” he added.
Founder of Greenfingers Wildlife Initiative, Mr. Chinedu Mogbo, applauded Fidelity Bank for its proactive role in promoting environmental sustainability, noting that the collaboration aligns with the organisation’s mission to protect ecosystems and wildlife.
“This partnership is built on a shared vision of creating cleaner, safer, and greener environments for people and wildlife. Tree planting not only restores ecological balance but also enhances the beauty and health of our surroundings,” Mogbo said.
The activity represents another milestone in Fidelity Bank’s environmental CSR journey, focused on promoting sustainable lifestyles, tackling climate change, conserving biodiversity, and protecting aquatic ecosystems.
