Federal Government Postpones Special FEC Session to Thursday to Honour Late President Buhari

The Federal Government has announced a new date for the expanded special session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) held in tribute to former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away recently.

The special FEC meeting, initially scheduled earlier in the week, will now take place on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to an official government statement, the rescheduling was made to align with the third-day prayer (Fidau) for the late president, which is set to be held at his residence in Daura, Katsina State, earlier that day.

The expanded FEC session is expected to be attended by current and former government officials, ministers, and key political stakeholders as part of nationwide tributes being paid to Buhari’s legacy and contributions to Nigeria’s democratic journey.

The Federal Government emphasized that the session will provide a formal platform to reflect on Buhari’s leadership, achievements, and national impact.

President Bola Tinubu is expected to preside over the meeting and deliver a special tribute to his late predecessor.
