Werder Bremen defender Felix Agu has praised Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface as the forward begins his return from a long injury layoff, describing him as a player of exceptional quality despite months away from action.
Boniface’s 2025–26 campaign was disrupted by a serious knee injury that required surgery in January, raising fears that he could miss the rest of the season. The setback left both the club and supporters uncertain about when he would return.
After several months on the sidelines, the Nigerian striker has now resumed light training, with Werder Bremen carefully managing his recovery to prevent any recurrence of the injury.
Agu expressed his delight at seeing his teammate back in the squad environment, noting the positive impact he already brings. “I’m very happy to see him back here because I get along well with him,” he said.
While acknowledging that Boniface will need time to regain full match sharpness, Agu insisted his quality remains unquestionable. “We all know his quality… he still needs a little time to get back into his rhythm,” he added.
He further highlighted the striker’s technical ability, praising his intelligence on the ball and vision in play. According to Agu, Boniface’s talent is evident even in training sessions, where his movement and passing continue to stand out.
Agu also recalled the striker’s important role in Bayer Leverkusen’s Bundesliga title-winning campaign, stressing that such contributions prove his high level.
Looking ahead, the defender remained optimistic that Boniface can still make a strong impact this season once fully fit, while emphasizing the importance of a careful and complete recovery process.
