The Association of Resident Doctors under the Federal Capital Territory Administration (ARD-FCTA) has paused its indefinite strike for a four-week period. The development was confirmed on Monday in a brief statement issued by the association’s President, Dr. George Ebong.

According to Ebong, the decision was taken in anticipation that the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, will implement all recently approved measures aimed at improving the welfare and working conditions of medical personnel within the FCT health system.

He noted that the association is giving the administration time to fulfil the promises made, stressing that full implementation of the minister’s approvals will determine the next line of action.

“The ARD-FCTA has suspended its strike for four weeks with the expectation that the approvals granted by the Minister will be fully executed,” Ebong stated.

The suspension follows closely on the heels of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), which called off its nationwide industrial action just 24 hours earlier. NARD’s strike had begun on November 1, 2025.
