The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested four suspected one-chance robbers who were also allegedly involved in an attempted kidnapping in Abuja.

The spokesperson for the command, SP Josephine Adeh, announced the arrest in a statement released on Sunday, October 12, 2025.

According to her, officers attached to the Life Camp Police Division received a distress call on October 8, reporting that a woman had been abducted by criminals demanding a ₦1 million ransom for her release.

Acting swiftly, the police deployed digital tracking and tactical intelligence, which led to the arrest of the suspects the following day, October 9, at Dape Village, after a tense face-off with the operatives.

“Two victims were rescued during the operation. One of them, who suffered multiple stab wounds from the suspects, was taken to Gwarinpa General Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment,” Adeh stated.

The arrested suspects were identified as Solomon Tanko, Samuel Audu, Chigozie Joseph, and Emmanuel Chidiebere.

Further investigation revealed that the gang had been operating in several parts of the city, including Bannex and Kado, where they used a tinted vehicle to lure and rob unsuspecting passengers.

Recovered items from the suspects include 15 international passports, two daggers, two cutlasses, bloodstained documents, four mobile phones, two hammers, and three biros.

SP Adeh added that the suspects have confessed to multiple robberies and would be charged to court once investigations are concluded.

She also reaffirmed the FCT Police Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of residents and dismantling criminal networks across the nation’s capital
