“FCT Minister Wike Did Not Collapse in Abuja – Aide Debunks Rumours”

Lere Olayinka, the media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has debunked reports that his principal collapsed during a meeting on Friday, March 28, and was subsequently flown to France for medical attention.

The reports, which have been making the rounds, claimed that Wike suffered a partial stroke due to excessive alcohol consumption. However, Olayinka described the allegations as baseless and misleading.

In a post shared on his X page on Saturday, March 29, Olayinka firmly dismissed the rumours, stating that Wike was actively engaged in official duties on the said day. The former governor of Rivers State was reportedly inspecting various ongoing projects across the Federal Capital Territory.

Olayinka’s post read: “Yesterday, Data Man dey Life Camp, Abuja dey take instructions from the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, who dey their coma in their hospital.”

This sarcastic remark was meant to highlight the absurdity of the claims, emphasizing that Wike was not only healthy but also discharging his official responsibilities without any hindrance.

Wike, known for his hands-on approach to governance, has been overseeing major infrastructural projects in Abuja since assuming office as the FCT Minister. His aide maintained that the minister remains focused on delivering on his mandate and has not experienced any health complications as speculated.

The circulation of unverified information remains a major challenge in the digital age, and Olayinka urged the public to rely on credible sources for accurate news regarding public figures. Meanwhile, there has been no official medical report or confirmation from Wike himself regarding any health-related issues.

As of now, the FCT Minister continues his duties unperturbed by the unfounded rumours, reinforcing his commitment to the development of the capital city.
