FBN Insurance gets new MD

Nigeria’s life insurer, FBN Insurance Limited, has appointed of Mr Tunde Mimiko, as its new managing director/chief executive officer, following the retirement of Mr Val Ojumah.
It said in a statement that Mimiko succeeded Ojumah who had been managing director since the inception of the business and grown the FBN Insurance brand to become one of the most successful and celebrated businesses in Nigeria.
Ojuma stepped down as managing director and would remain with the business until April 2023 in an advisory role to support a smooth transition, the statement said.
According to the Chairman, FBN Insurance Ltd, Dr Femi Oyetunji, “Tunde brings over two decades of versatile and trusted financial services experience to our business, with a track record of excellence and integrity. We are confident of his ability to take FBN Insurance to greater heights.”
He added, “We thank Val Ojumah for his rare leadership, service, dedication, and strong commitment to the success of FBN Insurance. Under Val’s leadership, FBN Insurance has experienced monumental growth and is today recognised as Nigeria’s leading insurance company
Prior to joining FBN Insurance, Tunde was an Executive Director (Operations) at FBN General Insurance.
The statement said, “He is a seasoned insurance professional with over 23 years experience in life and general insurance, spanning sales and marketing, business development, strategy, vision & mission planning, technical operations, product development & management.
“He is an astute professional, is a fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria, Chartered Insurance Professional, Insurance Institute of Canada. He is also an alumnus of the prestigious Lagos Business School and holds a MBA in Financial Management, from Lagos State University.
“Tunde is a transformational leader who has actively participated in the transition projects of the various companies where he served, including the transition of Union Assurance to Ensure Insurance Plc (now Allianz Nigeria), where he served as managing Director/Chief Executive Officer between 2015-2017, WAPIC Insurance Plc (now Coronation Insurance Plc), and ARM Life Plc
