Exclusive: Arsenal unlikely to make further signings as Tottenham close in on Eze

Arsenal supporters have been urged not to expect any more arrivals at the Emirates this summer, with Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze now on the verge of joining Tottenham Hotspur.

The Gunners’ lack of creativity was evident again in their Premier League opener against Manchester United, but Mikel Arteta’s men still secured a 1-0 victory at Old Trafford thanks to Riccardo Calafiori’s header from a corner.

Just hours earlier, Eze featured for Palace in their goalless draw with Chelsea, even seeing a brilliant free-kick ruled out. Despite that, the 26-year-old looks set to complete a £55m switch across London to Spurs, who have revived their pursuit following James Maddison’s long-term ACL injury.

While Arsenal had been linked with the England international, they never reached an agreement with Palace. Former Gunners midfielder Ray Parlour now believes Arteta will not make any further additions this summer, given the club’s recent activity.

“Arsenal have two top players for every position now, and with the likes of Ethan Nwaneri signing a new deal and Noni Madueke coming in, I don’t see any more incomings,” Parlour told Sports Mole.

“Maybe one or two could leave on loan, but overall, the squad depth looks strong. Eze is a fantastic player, and in different circumstances, he would have been a great signing for Arsenal.”

Palace are expected to sanction Eze’s move to Tottenham only after securing a replacement, with Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannouss reportedly their top target.

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s squad already looks overloaded. Reiss Nelson, Jakub Kiwior, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira, and Albert Sambi Lokonga were all absent from the matchday squad at Old Trafford.

With Arsenal focusing heavily on new contracts and youth integration, further signings appear unlikely unless key players depart. A big sale—possibly involving Leandro Trossard or Gabriel Martinelli—would likely be needed to fund another marquee arrival.

Though the “Eze ship” has sailed, Arsenal remain admirers of Real Madrid’s Rodrygo. Their chances of signing him may have improved after a Premier League rival reportedly dropped out of the race. However, the Brazilian’s wages and transfer fee would require significant resources, meaning the Gunners’ summer business may already be done.
