Ex-Super Falcons Coach Waldrum Questions Missing $960,000 FIFA Fund from NFF

Former Super Falcons coach Randy Waldrum has raised concerns over $960,000 (approx. N1.4 billion) allegedly given to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) by FIFA ahead of the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
In a viral video on X, Waldrum said a FIFA source confirmed that all participating nations received the funds to prepare their teams. However, he lamented that despite the huge allocation, the NFF failed to organize a proper training camp and could not provide business-class tickets for the players.
Waldrum, an American, criticized the lack of accountability in Nigeria, comparing it with the United States, where public funds are closely scrutinized. He also revealed that he was allowed to work with only seven staff, far below FIFA’s allowance of up to 22 technical personnel, leaving the team without an analyst or scout during the tournament.
He questioned:
“If Nigeria received that money, why didn’t we have a camp in November? Why couldn’t we get business-class tickets funded by FIFA if needed? Where is the money?”
Despite the challenges, Nigeria reached the round of sixteen before being eliminated by England in a penalty shootout. Waldrum’s revelations reignite calls for transparency in the management of football funds in Nigeria.
