Ex-Dunamis Pastor Claims Healing Miracles Are Staged, Criticizes Church Practices Amid Police Drama

A former pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre (DIGC), Abraham Daniel, has made startling claims about the authenticity of the healing miracles conducted by the church’s Senior Pastor, Paul Enenche. Daniel alleged that the widely celebrated miracles are staged, adding that the atmosphere during services pushes attendees into acts of desperation.

In an interview with Kaa Truths, Daniel shared his reasons for leaving the ministry, citing disillusionment with the church’s approach to “healing and deliverance.” According to him, despite the high-energy environment during healing services, many congregants leave in frustration, seeking further prayers.

“After healing and deliverance services, we often have more people seeking healing than those who originally came for it,” he said. “The environment creates what I call ‘environmental influence.’ It’s like hearing there’s a lion nearby; even a crippled person might jump the fence in such a situation.”

Daniel described the atmosphere during Dunamis services as emotionally charged, with music and lighting heightening attendees’ emotions. “When you’re on the stage, it’s different from reality. The lights, the music—your emotions are being tapped into. But when the lights are off, and you face reality, things change.”

He likened the effect to attending a concert. “Imagine being at an event with Burna Boy or Michael Jackson. You might forget your headache in the moment, but when the event is over, the pain returns. That’s the environmental effect I’m talking about.”

Allegations Against Pastor Paul Enenche

Abraham Daniel’s claims extend beyond the alleged inauthenticity of miracles. He revealed his frustration as a pastor at the church, often left to manage congregants’ unmet expectations. “When ‘daddy’ [Pastor Paul Enenche] leaves, the burden falls on us. People keep saying, ‘I need to see daddy,’ and you can see the pain and frustration in their eyes. It’s overwhelming.”

Legal Troubles and Police Involvement

These revelations come amid ongoing legal disputes involving Daniel and Alex Enenche, Pastor Paul Enenche’s younger brother. Both were arrested on January 7, 2025, by the Force Intelligence Department (FID) of the Nigerian Police. They were detained over accusations of cyberbullying and criminal defamation against Pastor Enenche.

Barrister Ernest Okpaga, the legal counsel for the two men, stated that his clients were detained despite cooperating fully with the police. “They arrived at the FID office at 1 pm but were not attended to until 8 pm, after which they were detained without a clear explanation.”

After spending a day in custody, they were released on bail on January 8, 2025, following an agreement to resolve the matter amicably. However, they were instructed to report back to the FID on January 10 and January 13, 2025, as the investigation continues.

Family Concerns

Before their release, family members of Daniel and Alex Enenche expressed concern over their whereabouts, stating that they were left in the dark after the arrests. SaharaReporters previously reported that both men had honored a police invitation sent on January 3, 2025, but their prolonged detention without explanation caused distress among their loved ones.

The Larger Context

Abraham Daniel’s allegations and the subsequent legal entanglements have sparked debate among observers of the Pentecostal church landscape in Nigeria. While supporters of Pastor Paul Enenche dismiss the claims as unfounded, critics argue that the controversy highlights the challenges of accountability in faith-based organizations.

As the story unfolds, questions about the authenticity of healing miracles and the practices within Dunamis International Gospel Centre remain a topic of intense discussion.
