Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Daniel Levy has stepped down from his role as executive chairman, bringing an end to nearly 25 years of leadership at the north London club.

Levy, who took over from Lord Alan Sugar in 2001, has been one of the most influential figures in English football, transforming Spurs into one of the Premier League’s top sides both on and off the pitch.

During his reign, Tottenham enjoyed consistent participation in European competitions—qualifying in 18 of the last 20 seasons. Most notably, the club lifted the Europa League trophy last season, ending a 17-year wait for silverware.

Levy’s legacy also includes the development of the club’s state-of-the-art Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and training centre at Hotspur Way, both widely regarded as among the best in world football.

Reflecting on his departure, Levy said:

Spurs’ New Leadership Structure
Tottenham recently appointed Vinai Venkatesham as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), while Peter Charrington has joined the board as Non-Executive Chairman. The club clarified that there will be no changes to ownership or shareholder structure.

Spurs continue to be a financial powerhouse, reporting revenues of £533 million last year—the ninth-highest in world football.

Levy’s Mixed Legacy Among Fans
Despite his achievements, Levy’s tenure has not been without controversy. Tottenham cycled through 13 managers under his watch, including high-profile names such as Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte, Mauricio Pochettino, and Ange Postecoglou. While Spurs enjoyed memorable moments, they often fell short of mounting a serious Premier League title challenge.

Many fans were particularly stunned when Levy dismissed Postecoglou shortly after guiding Spurs to their Europa League final triumph over Manchester United.
