Emirates Restarts Dubai–Lagos Flights After Middle East Airspace Disruptions

Story: written by Joseph March 6,2026
Emirates has confirmed it will resume flight operations between Dubai and Lagos on Friday after suspending services due to the recent escalation of hostilities in the Middle East.

The airline halted several global routes last week after multiple countries closed their airspace following military strikes involving the United States, Israel and Iran.

The suspension affected numerous international carriers as tensions in the region forced airlines to divert or cancel flights that normally pass through the affected air corridors.

US President Donald Trump had described the attacks on Iranian targets as a “major combat operation,” prompting aviation authorities to tighten restrictions and airlines to adjust their routes for safety reasons.

In a message sent to its travel partners in Nigeria, Emirates announced that Dubai–Lagos–Dubai flights (EK783 and EK784) would resume on March 6, 2026.

The airline said the restart of the service offers passengers an opportunity to continue their travel plans and advised customers to secure bookings early due to expected high demand.

Emirates also noted that it is closely monitoring developments in the region and will continue to adjust its flight schedule depending on security conditions.

According to sources familiar with the airline’s operations, Emirates may initially run limited or reduced flights on the Lagos route until the geopolitical situation stabilises.

The conflict has led to missile exchanges between Israel and Iran, forcing several countries, including Iran and Iraq, to temporarily shut their airspace.

As a result, airlines operating between India, Europe, the Middle East, the United Kingdom and North America have experienced significant flight disruptions in recent days.

Passengers have been advised to monitor flight updates and confirm their schedules through the airline’s official website before travelling to the airport.
