Ekiti Court Remands Teenager for Alleged Rape of 2-Year-Old Girl

An 18-year-old, Solomon Sunday, has been ordered to be remanded in a correctional facility by a Chief Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti over the alleged rape of a two-year-old girl.
Presiding Magistrate Mrs. Adefunke Anoma gave the order following an application by the prosecutor, Inspector Olasunkanmi Bankole, who argued that there was sufficient evidence to warrant the suspect’s remand.
Bankole told the court that the alleged crime, which occurred within the Ado-Ekiti magisterial district on August 24, 2024, contravenes Section 31 of the Ekiti State Child Rights Law, 2021.
He further explained that the police had forwarded the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
The magistrate adjourned the case to October 14, 2025, for mention and ordered that the suspect remain in custody until then.
