The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed strong optimism ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State, as its flagbearer, Ambassador Dare Bejide, assured party faithful that the ADC is well positioned to win.
Bejide, who received an enthusiastic reception at the party secretariat in Ado-Ekiti after returning from Abuja, reaffirmed his confidence in leading the ADC to triumph. Addressing a large crowd of supporters, he said the gathering was a moment of thanksgiving rather than a campaign event.
He urged members not to be discouraged by the recent fracas at the party office, which he described as a minor obstacle. “This marks a fresh beginning toward 2026,” he said. “The mandate is in God’s hands—power comes only from Him.”
The event attracted notable party leaders, including State Chairman Pastor Omolayo, former Commissioner for Information Akin Omole, Hon. Femi Adegbite, Otunba Emmanuel Fayose, and Hon. Dare Adekolu. They all assured Bejide of their loyalty and pledged to strengthen the ADC ahead of the polls.
Pastor Omolayo praised members for standing firm despite recent tensions within the party. He called for unity and described the ADC as a political family built on love and mutual respect.
Omole also acknowledged the recent unrest, explaining that Bejide’s trip to Abuja was necessary to address important electoral matters. He commended members for their steadfastness and encouraged them to remain active in party activities.
Other speakers—Adegbite, Fayose, and Adekolu—emphasized discipline, cooperation, and dedication. They assured supporters that the party leadership is working to resolve internal differences and position the ADC for victory.
Speaking on the attack on the party secretariat, Bejide described it as politically driven and confirmed that the incident had been reported to authorities in Abuja. He also highlighted the broader national challenges of insecurity and unemployment, which he attributed to longstanding leadership failures.
Bejide stressed that equipping citizens with skills and revitalizing agriculture would address these issues in Ekiti and beyond. “There is much work to be done, and we are committed to delivering for our people,” he said.
With renewed enthusiasm and unity among its ranks, the ADC says it is ready to be a major force as the race toward the 2026 Ekiti governorship election gathers momentum.
