Edo Police Nab 42-Year-Old Man for Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunition

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Moses Yamu, the suspect was apprehended by operatives of the Safer Highway Patrol Team during a routine stop-and-search along the Benin–Lagos Road, near the area known as “Evil Forest.”
Yamu revealed that the police intercepted a commercial bus traveling from Lagos to Benin. While other passengers were profiled and released, further investigation linked Henry to suspicious items.
Recovered from the suspect were:
- One pump-action shotgun
- Two locally made pistols
- 18 rounds of 9mm live ammunition
- 10 live cartridges
- A Lexus RX 330 SUV traced to him
The police spokesperson confirmed that the suspect, a native of Ewu in Esan Central Local Government Area, has already been arraigned in court, while efforts are ongoing to track down his accomplices.
“The command remains resolute in its commitment to rid Edo State of criminal elements and ensure the safety of residents,” Yamu said.
