The Ebonyi State Police Command says it has achieved another major breakthrough in its ongoing clampdown on criminals terrorising the state.

In a statement issued on Friday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Joshua Ukandu, police operatives revealed that intelligence received on September 2, 2025, led to the arrest of suspected kidnappers at Nwagana Guest House in Umuhuali, Ishielu Local Government Area.

Acting swiftly, officers of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad raided the hideout and apprehended two suspects, identified as Chinedu Okorie and Okpaga Chibueze. A Lexus vehicle with registration number LSR 895 DB was seized during the operation.

Further investigations guided the police to Abuja, where two additional suspects—Stanley Benson Agada and Joshua Noah Olatunji—were arrested.

The raid also led to the recovery of four stolen vehicles, including:

  • Toyota Corolla (Reg. No. KWL 141 CE)
  • Toyota Highlander Jeep (Reg. No. LSD 589 JX)
  • Toyota Venza (Reg. No. LXR 272 JH)
  • Toyota Sienna Bus (Reg. No. RSH 196 DF)

According to the statement, the rightful owners, who were earlier victims of kidnapping, have identified the vehicles. Police say arrangements are ongoing to release the cars to their owners once legal procedures are completed.

The Command confirmed that investigations are still in progress and assured that efforts are being intensified to arrest other members of the criminal syndicate still on the run. The suspects in custody will be charged to court once inquiries are concluded.
