Early Morning Fire Destroys Residential Building in Oyo, Millions Lost in Property Damage

A devastating fire on Wednesday morning destroyed a residential building in the Aladota, Oke-Olola area of Oyo town, Oyo State, causing significant property losses estimated at millions of naira.
The incident reportedly broke out around 9 a.m., sparking panic among residents.
Confirming the incident, the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, said firefighters were quickly deployed to the scene after receiving an emergency call.
According to him, preliminary investigations revealed that the blaze was triggered by an electrical spark, which ignited nearby combustible materials.
“No lives were lost in the incident,” Akinwande stated. “Our team acted promptly and successfully prevented the fire from spreading further, saving properties worth millions of naira.”
Residents commended the swift intervention of the fire service, which helped contain the inferno before it consumed adjoining buildings.
