DSS Arrests Two Key Suspects in Connection with Killing of 16 Northerners in Edo State

Operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS) have arrested two principal suspects connected to the brutal killing of 16 Nigerians of Northern extraction in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State.
The horrific incident, which occurred last week, has sparked nationwide outrage and led to swift action from security agencies to apprehend those responsible. According to Zagazola Makama, a counterterrorism expert in the Lake Chad region, the arrests were made in Uromi following credible intelligence gathered by security forces.
Makama further revealed that operatives from various security agencies are still on the trail of other key suspects linked to the tragic crime.
In a related development, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo announced that 14 suspects had already been detained and would soon be transported to Abuja for further interrogation. Governor Okpebholo made the announcement during a condolence visit to Kano State, where he expressed his sympathies to the government and families of the victims. He assured that justice would be served and that all those involved in the massacre would be held accountable.
The governor also pledged that appropriate compensation would be provided to the grieving families, reiterating his administration’s commitment to justice and support for the victims’ loved ones.
On Tuesday evening, a statement from the Edo State Governor’s media office confirmed that the two principal suspects apprehended by the DSS had been transferred to Abuja for further interrogation and prosecution.
As investigations continue, the public is assured that all perpetrators of this heinous crime will be brought to justice and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
