Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have intercepted a truck loaded with large quantities of suspected illegal drugs and recovered firearms during separate operations across the state.
The truck, bearing registration number 3BGT 18LG, was intercepted by the Eagle Net Special Squad in Asaba during a coordinated operation led by SP Danyaya Yunusa. The operation was conducted in collaboration with the Office of the Executive Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Illicit Drugs and Human Trafficking.
The driver, identified as 52-year-old Dennis Uruma from Igalamela Local Government Area of Kogi State, was arrested after the vehicle was thoroughly searched. Police confirmed that the process of counting and measuring the seized substances is ongoing.
In a separate raid on October 3, 2025, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), led by CSP Nosa Alex, stormed a criminal hideout near the Basket Market area of Asaba following credible intelligence. Three suspects—Rabbi Godwin (25), Lucky Nanakumo (20), and David Igwe (19)—were apprehended. A search of the location led to the recovery of a fabricated Beretta pistol, which was secured as evidence.
Earlier, on October 1, 2025, the DPO of ‘B’ Division, Asaba, CSP Edewor Akponegware, led a surveillance team in response to a robbery incident around the BONSAAC axis of Asaba, where a woman had been robbed at gunpoint.
Working with local vigilantes, police cordoned off the area and arrested 21-year-old Amara Nwako from Oko, while his accomplice escaped into an uncompleted building. A locally made pistol was recovered at the scene. Preliminary investigations linked the suspect to the Arobaga secret cult.
According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, all suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue. He added that a manhunt has been launched for the fleeing suspect and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to eradicating drug trafficking, cultism, and violent crimes across Delta State.
