Delta Police Detain 32-Year-Old for Allegedly Raping and Impregnating 13-Year-Old Stepdaughter

Authorities in Delta State have apprehended a 32-year-old man accused of repeatedly raping, sexually abusing, and causing the pregnancy of his 13-year-old stepdaughter (identity protected). A pharmacist suspected of supplying him with abortion pills has also been arrested.

Both individuals are now in police custody. The suspect confessed that the sexual abuse began in January 2024, after he had already fathered a child with the girl’s mother. He admitted to procuring abortion drugs to end the pregnancy once the victim informed him she had missed her period. He stated that he obtained the medication from a pharmacy after researching it online, intending to “flush out” the pregnancy.

The victim recounted her traumatic experience, explaining that in January 2024, her stepfather lured her into a room, touched her inappropriately, and forced himself on her despite her resistance. She noted that the assaults occurred frequently, often every other night, and that no one could hear her cries for help.

She further disclosed that the suspect provided her with abortion pills, claiming they were merely to “flush the system,” even though he was aware of her missed period.

The case surfaced after the young girl raised concerning questions to her school proprietress, which triggered suspicions. This led to the intervention of CSP Temi Agberen Zuokumor, the Divisional Police Officer of Ugborikoko Division in Uvwie Local Government Area, who promptly arranged the suspect’s arrest.

Delta State Police spokesperson SP Bright Edafe confirmed the detentions, emphasizing that the pharmacist’s arrest serves as a caution to those illegally dispensing prescription medications. He stressed that such drugs should only be provided with a valid prescription.
