Delta, Cross River, Edo Residents Paid Lowest Petrol Prices in August – NBS

Residents of Delta, Cross River, and Edo States paid the lowest prices for Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, in August 2024, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). The data was revealed in the NBS’s “Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol) Price Watch” report for August, released on Sunday in Abuja.
During the period, petrol prices in Delta, Cross River, and Edo averaged N667.50, N672.00, and N676.25 per litre, respectively.
In contrast, residents of Benue, Bauchi, and Gombe States faced the highest petrol prices, paying N941.24, N935.71, and N925.00 per litre, respectively.
The report noted that the average petrol price across Nigeria in August stood at N830.46 per litre, representing a 32.51 percent increase from the N626.70 recorded in August 2023. Month-on-month, the average price rose by 7.78 percent, up from N770.54 in July.
On a zonal analysis, the North-East recorded the highest average retail price of N908.21 per litre, while the South-South had the lowest prices. This data underscores the significant regional disparities in fuel prices across the country.
