A violent confrontation between farmers and herders in Komi District, Funakaye Local Government Area of Gombe State has resulted in the death of one person, while four others sustained injuries.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed the incident through a post on his X account, noting that the clash broke out around 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2025, after tensions escalated during an argument over land and grazing activities.

The victim, identified as 27-year-old Mohammed Jibrin, a farmer from Komi, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the General Hospital in Biri, Nafada Local Government Area. He was later pronounced dead while receiving medical attention. His remains have been released to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic traditions.

Makama further reported that three additional farmers and one herder sustained non-life-threatening injuries. They received medical treatment at Wawa Primary Health Care Centre in Funakaye and have since been discharged.

The latest incident adds to the growing concerns over persistent tensions between farming communities and pastoralists in the North, often triggered by disputes over land use and access to resources.

Authorities have yet to comment on whether arrests have been made or steps taken to prevent further hostilities in the area.
