Davido Retracts Criticism of Osun CP Mohammed Umar Abba, Acknowledges His Efforts

Popular Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has retracted his earlier criticism of the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Umar Abba.
Recall that on February 17, 2025, the 30BG boss took to his social media pages to harshly criticize the police commissioner after unrest broke out in Osun State, leading to loss of lives and destruction of properties. In a now-deleted post, Davido had expressed his anger over the situation, even threatening to take action against the police chief.
However, in a surprising twist, the Grammy-nominated artist has now shown remorse, acknowledging that the situation in Osun was more complex than he initially thought. Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) page, Davido admitted that his frustration over the killings in the state made him react emotionally without fully understanding the extent of the security challenges.
He explained that after further investigations and consultations, he realized that CP Mohammed Umar Abba and other security chiefs in Osun had been working tirelessly to contain the crisis. He also commended their efforts, expressing hope that peace would soon return to the troubled areas.
“I was deeply pained by the killings in my beloved Osun State and, in my frustration, I directed my anger at the Commissioner of Police. However, after getting more details, I understand that he and other security agencies have been putting in their best efforts to restore peace. I appreciate their work and hope for better days ahead,” Davido posted.
The singer’s decision to retract his statement and acknowledge the efforts of security operatives has sparked mixed reactions online, with many commending his humility while others remain critical of the situation.
Meanwhile, security agencies in Osun State have assured residents that efforts are ongoing to restore law and order while promising to bring the perpetrators of violence to justice.
