Davido Named Chairman of Osun State Sports Trust Fund

Nigerian music sensation David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Osun State Sports Trust Fund, marking a new chapter in the state’s drive to transform its sports sector.
The announcement was made on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, through a statement released by the Osun State Government, highlighting Governor Ademola Adeleke’s renewed commitment to revitalising sports infrastructure and promoting youth participation.
According to the statement, Davido’s appointment is intended to mobilise funding and partnerships to enhance and modernise sports facilities across the state.
Confirming the development, Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, who also doubles as the Commissioner for Sports, said the award-winning artiste enthusiastically accepted the role.
He added that the state government was nearing completion of the Osogbo Township Stadium renovation to meet Olympic standards and was also finalising plans to establish the Osun State Sports Commission for better coordination of sports activities and policy implementation.
Adeyusi explained that the newly established Sports Trust Fund, under Davido’s leadership, would attract local and international investments to ensure sustainable funding for sports development.
“Davido’s influence and network are expected to draw significant financial support that will accelerate the growth of sports in Osun State,” the deputy governor stated.
The Adeleke administration reaffirmed its determination to make sports a cornerstone of youth empowerment, community development, and talent discovery across the state.
