Dangote Refinery to Boost Local Petrol Supply to 50 Million Liters Daily

The Dangote Refinery has announced plans to increase its domestic petrol supply to 50 million liters per day, amounting to 1.5 billion liters monthly, between December 2025 and January 2026.

The announcement was made in a formal notice sent over the weekend to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), signed by Chief Executive Officer David Bird.

This comes after the NMDPRA disclosed that the refinery supplied only 34.15 percent of Nigeria’s daily petrol consumption—equivalent to 56.7 million liters—in October 2025, a figure lower than the 45 million liters per day earlier claimed by the refinery.

In response, the 650,000-barrel-per-day facility reaffirmed its commitment to significantly ramp up its local fuel distribution in order to reduce reliance on petrol imports. The refinery added that beginning February 2026, it would further scale its supply to 1.7 billion liters monthly, or 57 million liters per day.

Dangote Refinery also requested NMDPRA’s support to ensure smooth importation of crude feedstock and blending components needed to sustain production levels.

“We reaffirm our commitment to meeting Nigeria’s domestic PMS demand,” the company stated. “The refinery is prepared to deliver 1.5 billion liters per month in December and January, and 1.7 billion liters per month from February 2026 onward. We request NMDPRA officials to be onsite from December 1 to verify and publish our daily supply volumes. In the interest of transparency, we are ready to make our daily production and stock levels public through online and print media.”
