Dangote Refinery has announced a nationwide reduction in petrol prices and confirmed September 15, 2025, as the official launch date for its direct fuel distribution initiative.
The refinery, which has a production capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, revealed that its new gantry price remains at ₦820 per litre, the same price announced last month. The company stated that distribution will be carried out using its 4,000 compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks, ensuring delivery at zero logistics cost to consumers.
According to the new price template released by Dangote Group on its official X account:
- In Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, and Ekiti, petrol will now retail at ₦841 per litre, down from ₦860.
- In Abuja, Edo, Delta, Rivers, and Kwara, the price drops to ₦851 per litre, from ₦885.
This translates to a ₦19 per litre reduction in South-West states and a ₦34 per litre reduction in Abuja, North Central, and South-South regions.
Dangote Refinery emphasized that the new price adjustment and direct distribution scheme will officially commence on Monday, September 15, 2025.
The company also clarified that the updated price template applies only to its own supply chain and partners such as MRS Oil, noting that independent petroleum marketers and retailers are not bound by the new pricing.
Meanwhile, tensions remain between Dangote Group and the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), which has threatened to resume strike action over alleged breaches of recent agreements. Dangote Group, however, reiterated its respect for workers’ voluntary union membership.
