Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be his final tournament before retiring from professional football.

Speaking ahead of Portugal’s 2026 World Cup qualifying clash against Iceland, Ronaldo acknowledged that age is catching up with him and that he will not be available for the 2030 World Cup, when he would be 45 years old.

The 40-year-old superstar, who currently plays for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League and has a two-year contract, described the upcoming World Cup as “the moment” to bow out of the sport.

“Definitely, yes. I’m going to be 41, and I think it will be the moment. Let’s be honest, it’s probably one or two more years, but I’ll still be at the game,” Ronaldo said.

Ronaldo, widely regarded as one of football’s greatest, is the highest goalscorer in the sport’s history, with over 900 official goals, inching closer to the 1,000-goal milestone.

Fans around the world are expected to witness the Portuguese star’s final World Cup appearance, capping a career filled with records, trophies, and unforgettable moments.
