Popular Nigerian comedian and content creator, Comedian Koboko,http://Comedian Koboko, has expressed frustration over the exorbitant cost of internet data in Nigeria. In a recent social media rant, he accused major telecom providers, MTN and Airtel, of overcharging Nigerians while the government turns a blind eye to their plight.
According to the comedian, he purchased ₦18,000 worth of MTN data (75GB), but within just two hours, it was almost exhausted. He lamented the rapid depletion of data and criticized the Nigerian Senate for failing to address the issue.

“The Nigerian government, especially the Senate, is doing nothing about the high cost of data. The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and other lawmakers have remained silent despite the citizens’ constant complaints,” he said.
Koboko further argued that Nigerian lawmakers only react when they are insulted but ignore pressing issues affecting the masses. He called their work “rubbish”, stating that they have failed to pass any meaningful bill that benefits Nigerian youths or the general public. Instead, he accused them of approving huge budgets for their personal gain while neglecting their responsibilities.
The comedian also referenced the ongoing “30 Days Challenge”, where Nigerians have been voicing concerns about governance. He stressed that 30 days is not enough to address the government’s failures, adding that poor policies and lack of price regulation have made life difficult for citizens.
“In other countries like the U.S. and Europe, internet data lasts for an entire month. Why can’t the same happen in Nigeria? My 75GB data is almost finished, and I only used it for Instagram, Facebook, and PlayStation,” he lamented.
Koboko also took a swipe at the Nigerian police and the DSS, alleging that they have been compromised by the government. He claimed that security agencies now monitor social media to arrest citizens who criticize politicians, instead of tackling real security issues.
Furthermore, he described the ongoing political tension between Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as a “political drama.” He accused the Nigerian government of deliberately cooking up distractions whenever there are pressing national issues, just to shift the focus of Nigerians, especially the youth.
“Every time there’s an important issue in this country, they will bring up one drama to distract us. But I, Comedian Koboko, will never be distracted!” he declared.
He concluded by asking the Senate President and House of Assembly members what they have done to improve Nigeria’s economy under President Tinubu’s government, citing high unemployment, failing industries, and a struggling economy.
The comedian’s outburst has sparked widespread reactions, with many Nigerians agreeing with his stance on the high cost of living, poor leadership, and political distractions.
