Chevron Reiterates Commitment to Nigeria Amid Investment Allegations

Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL), the operator of the joint venture with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), has reaffirmed its commitment to Nigeria. The company responded to a misleading media report suggesting that CNL had overlooked Nigeria in terms of investment prospects in 2024.

According to Esimaje Brikinn, the General Manager of Policy, Government, and Public Affairs at CNL, the allegation is untrue and does not reflect the company’s position in Nigeria. Brikinn stated, “CNL remains committed to sustaining the existing mutually beneficial and long-term relationship with Nigeria and other stakeholders as demonstrated by our significant economic and social investments in Nigeria over the last six decades

He emphasized that these investments have contributed to visible and viable socio-economic development in various communities across Nigeria. Brikinn further noted that CNL prioritizes capital discipline and aims for higher returns to shareholders while actively engaging with the government on policies and opportunities to ensure global competitiveness and the sustainability of the petroleum industry.

The statement underscores CNL’s dedication to maintaining a positive and collaborative relationship with Nigeria, emphasizing the company’s ongoing contributions to the country’s economic and social development
